About Me

I am Jakub Wesolowski, a multidisciplinary artist based in Poland, exploring the intersection of sculpture, painting, and visual media. I graduated with honors from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and my practice is deeply rooted in an engagement with impermanence and the human condition.

Early works, like my Masters thesis "Tathata (it is as it is)" – a Buddha statue constructed from dissolving noodles (which has since disintegrated) – explored Zen philosophy and the ephemeral nature of existence. This exploration continued through my performances at the EVENTS Festival in Tczew, where I operated self-built machines that interacted with the audience, culminating in the award-winning "Deja-vu Machine" in 2024.

I later received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. My project investigated the ritualistic nature of prayer and collective religious experience, drawing inspiration from formal similarities between Eastern and Western religious traditions. The resulting installation was exhibited at the Studio Gallery in Warsaw.

My career has spanned diverse fields, including animation, video editing, and commercial art. I co-created the "Comics" magazine on TVP Kultura and directed visuals for concerts with bands like Smolik and Pink Freud. I also directed music videos during the 2000s for several bands, as well as directed short films that were presented across multiple festivals and exhibitions. I have exhibited extensively, participating in the Sculpture Biennale in Poznań and the FACE exhibitions organized by the Society of Portrait Sculptors in London.

Currently residing in Podlasie, I dedicate myself to my art, creating paintings, sculptures, and murals. My practice is characterized by a deep connection to nature and an ongoing exploration of the human experience through diverse mediums.
